And fear Allah and do not disgrace me.” They said, “Have we not forbidden you from people?” said, “These are my daughters – if you would be doers. The angels sent to Lut (AS) were in actuality recording his statements as proof against his people.Īs the travellers arrived at the house of Lut (AS), his wife, a disbeliever, informed the town of the arrival of the guests and their beauty: No community had been destroyed in the past until its Prophet had provided evidence against it. What Lut (AS) perhaps did not realise was that in dropping these hints, he was actually providing witness against his community. He (AS) led them back to his house at night, dropping numerous hints about the corruption and evil practices of the people of the city, hoping that the travellers would change their mind about staying there. Recognising their beauty and fearing what would happen to them if they entered the city, she asked them to remain outside the city until Lut (AS) could safely lead them inside. But you are a people transgressing.”” (26:160-166) “The people of Lut denied the messengers When their brother Lut said to them, “Will you not fear Allah? Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger. So fear Allah and obey me. And I do not ask you for it any payment. It may be that the community did not worship any gods beside Allah (SWT), except for their lusts: None of the passages in the Qur’an describe him advising the people to worship Allah (SWT) alone. The message that Lut (AS) was sent with was very simple, but it is interesting to note that it was not a call to tawheed. Lut (AS) was the nephew of Ibrahim (AS) and was sent by Allah (SWT) to follow a separate path than Ibrahim (AS), by going to the nation of Sadoom (Sodom).
